About Us

We're a dynamic, laid-back studio on a mission to boost wellbeing. Note that we're not a big operation- we keep our space for 9 students nourishing and cozy. Instructors

Though few in number, our BSP instructors have decades upon decades of combined experience teaching the art and science of yoga and other mindfulness-based movement practices.

Aimee Prasek, PhD

Aimee is the founder of BSP. She began teaching mind-body practices and yoga in 2004. Aimee earned her PhD at the University of Minnesota (UMN) with a research focus in integrative healing therapies (i.e., yoga & mindfulness-based practices) for wellbeing and to reduce symptoms of chronic stress, anxiety, and depression. She also received her MA in Holistic Health Studies (University of St. Catherine), an MA in Health Journalism and Communications (UMN), and is certified in a variety of wellness systems & practices (NASM CPT, E-RYT 500, PYT-500, Healing Touch, Reiki, & group fitness).

Aimee teaches: FLOW, EASE, MEDITATE, & special events and workshops.

Richard "Chi" Johnson

Chi began studying Tai Chi and Yoga at Normandale Community College in 2005. While completing a philosophy degree at the University of Minnesota, he continued to study under the tutelage of Dr. Russell Smiley at Normandale, serving as an assistant instructor through 2013. This foundation, in addition to studying with various other instructors of both Tai Chi and Yoga, allows him to be rooted in authenticity while branching out to make ancient wisdom accessible in our modern world.

Chi teaches: FLOW, EASE, and TAI CHI.

Hongyi Lan, PhD

Master Lan has practiced Tai Chi Chuan for more than 20 years. She first learned Yang style Tai Chi Chuan (traditional form) and then learned Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan (traditional form) from Master Liang Shan. After completing her training, Master Lan began assisting Master Liang in teaching Tai Chi Chuan. Hongyi believes Tai Chi/Wu Qin Qigong is an ideal mind-body exercise for everyone. Master Lan is a scholar and teacher devoted to spreading these ancient exercises to as many people as possible. She has a Master's Degree in Philosophy of Science from Sun Yat-Sen University and holds a Ph.D. Degree in Education Administration (UMN). 

Master Lan teaches: Wu Qin XI (healing 5 animal form).
